Honoring Black History Month
As we recognize Black History Month, we reflect on the enduring pursuit of equity across all areas of health, including oral health. The late Rev. Jesse Jackson — a lifelong advocate for civil rights, justice, and opportunity — dedicated decades to expanding access and equity for many communities. His belief that health systems should serve everyone fairly continues to inspire efforts to address disparities in access and outcomes, including in oral health care.
Despite progress, inequities in access to prevention, education, and treatment persist within Black communities. Advancing equitable oral health care remains essential to strengthening overall health and well-being.
