Recognizing Older Americans Month
As we recognize Older Americans Month this May, we are reminded that healthy aging extends far beyond longevity alone. Oral health plays an important role in overall wellness throughout life, influencing nutrition, communication, social connection, confidence, and quality of life.
Research continues to reinforce the connection between oral health and broader health outcomes, including cardiovascular health, diabetes management, cognitive wellbeing, and mental health. Supporting healthy aging therefore requires a more integrated view of healthcare, one that recognizes oral health as an essential part of whole-person care across the lifespan.
This year’s Older Americans Month theme, Champion Your Health, encourages individuals and communities to prioritize wellness, prevention, and healthy living at every stage of life.
