Strategic Areas of Focus
Strategic Focus 1:
Expand Medically Necessary Dental Coverage in Medicare
COHP and its partners are championing the expansion of comprehensive oral health services within Medicare. This initiative will ensure millions of older adults gain critical access to dental care, directly improving their health, quality of life, and overall well-being.
Strategic Focus 2:
Expand Dental Benefits in the VA Health System
We are actively engaging policymakers to ensure comprehensive dental coverage for all veterans, regardless of service-related disability status. This effort seeks to enhance veterans' health outcomes and alleviate financial barriers to necessary oral healthcare.
Strategic Focus 3:
Promote Medical/Dental Integration for Whole-Person Health
COHP is advancing the integration of oral health within broader medical care frameworks to support comprehensive, whole-person health. This approach will improve care coordination, address chronic disease prevention, and enhance overall health outcomes by ensuring dental and medical services work in unison to meet patients’ full spectrum of healthcare needs.
