Exciting New Edition of OHNEP Interprofessional Oral Health Faculty Toolkits
The Oral Health Nursing Education and Practice (OHNEP) Program is excited to share the second edition of the OHNEP Undergraduate Interprofessional Oral Health Faculty Tool Kit and the third edition of the OHNEP Interprofessional Oral Health Faculty Tool Kits for the Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Midwifery Programs. Oral health and its relationship with overall health remains an important population health issue and clinical competency focus for registered nurses and nurse practitioners. First launched in 2014, the Interprofessional Oral Health Faculty Tool Kit is an open-source product that facilitates the integration of oral-systemic health content and clinical competencies into Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner and Midwifery program curricula.
Very user-friendly, the content is linked to the AACN Essentials, the HRSA Interprofessional Oral Health Competencies, NONPF or ACNM Core Competencies, and the IPEC Competencies. Each Tool Kit includes evidence-based articles and innovative classroom and clinical teaching-learning strategies, including collaborative case studies, simulations, and management approaches that link oral health to common population health problems and conditions across the lifespan. The Tool Kits also provide links to innovative online learning modules, narrated videos, and webinars. These new editions of the OHNEP Interprofessional Oral Health Faculty Tool Kits have been revised to include up-to-date clinical practice guidelines and standards for use by faculty, preceptors, and clinicians.
