Amit Acharya, B.D.S., M.S., P.h.D., F.A.M.I.A
From 2017 to January 2021, Amit Acharya, PhD, served as the executive director of the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute, a division of Marshfield Clinic. The institute is the largest private medical research institute in Wisconsin, with more than 30 PhD and MD scientists and 200 other staff. In addition, approximately 150 physicians and other health care professionals throughout the Health System are engaged in medical research. Marshfield Clinic:
- is an integrated healthcare system with more than 50 locations in Wisconsin. Its health system is the largest private group medical practice in Wisconsin and one of the largest in the United States, with more than 1,200 medical providers representing 90 specialties and subspecialties.
- operates several dental clinics in northern, central and western Wisconsin. The dental clinics see more than 60,000 unique patients per year.
Dr. Acharya previously served as deputy director of the University of Wisconsin Institute for Clinical and Translational Research and chief dental informatics officer of the dental practices at Marshfield Clinic Health System. He has a doctorate in biomedical informatics, a master’s in computer science and a bachelor’s in dental surgery.
In February 2021, Dr. Acharya began as the chief research officer for Advocate Aurora Health and Advocate Aurora Research Institute.
