Dr. Shannon Munro is the National Implementation Lead for Project HAPPEN, a Diffusion of Excellence Fellow, and chair of the VA Nursing Research Field Advisory Committee. She also serves Veterans through her roles as a Nurse Researcher and Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Munro and her team have significantly reduced the risk of developing hospital acquired pneumonia by providing consistent oral hygiene during hospital admissions. National deployment of the pneumonia prevention initiative is underway and is supported by the Diffusion of Excellence, Office of Strategic Integration, and the Veterans Engineering Resource Center.
