All Veterans Deserve Comprehensive Dental Care
The Coalition for Oral Health Policy (COHP), an initiative of the Santa Fe Group, is proud to share a new policy statement published in Health Affairs Forefront: All Veterans Deserve Comprehensive Dental Care. The article highlights a critical gap in our nation’s healthcare system: limited dental care access for U.S. veterans.
Although millions of veterans are eligible for medical care through the Veterans Health Administration, only a small percentage qualify for dental services. In this article they explore how this disparity contributes to broader health inequities and financial burdens and offers actionable policy solutions that can close these gaps. They examine the systemic issues, from workforce shortages to outdated eligibility criteria, and present evidence-based recommendations for expanding access.
