World Diabetes Day 2025: Connecting Oral Health and Diabetes Care
Each year on November 14, the global community unites for World Diabetes Day, a campaign led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) to raise awareness of diabetes prevention, diagnosis, and access to care.
This year’s theme, “Access to Diabetes Care,” highlights the urgent need to close gaps in treatment and education worldwide. Diabetes affects more than 500 million adults globally and is closely linked to oral health, with gum disease and chronic inflammation known to influence blood sugar control and overall well-being.
The Santa Fe Group and its partners in The Consortium have long emphasized the importance of integrating oral health into chronic disease management, including diabetes, through research, policy, and education.
Integrating oral health into diabetes care can improve outcomes, reduce complications, and enhance quality of life, reinforcing the Santa Fe Group’s mission to elevate oral health as an essential component of overall health.
